Minister Leila Franklin

Under the leadership of our Minister of  Discipleship, Minister Leila Franklin, our Discipleship Ministry exists to accomplish our church's ministry purpose of discipleship, that is, to develop members to spiritual maturity.  This ministry team enhances and enriches the ministry of discipleship in the life and mission of the people in this local body of believers.  The Discipleship Ministry is comprised of the Sunday School, Bible Study, Vacation Bible School, AWANA, Scholarship Ministry, and CTP.  All Discipleship Ministry teams stress the importance of equipping the saints with the Word of God and helping church members to indentify and use their spiritual gifts for works of ministry and help them to develop a specific ministry passion.

Minister Leila Franklin is a native of Washington, DC.  She is the forth of seven children and grew up in Norfolk, Va.  Educated in the Norfolk, VA public schools, she received her B. S. Degree in Management from National-Louis University and her M.S. She is married to Charlie Franklin III.  They are the proud parents of Charlette Worley and Danyeal Madison.  After 34 years of service, Minister Franklin heeded the direction of her God and resigned from the United States Postal Service in December 2001, to accept a position in a strange land as Deputy for Compliance with the DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs.  She retired from government service in February 2009.

She has been a member of The New Macedonia Baptist Church for more than 30 years and has served in many capacities on the boards of Christian Education, the Early Learning Center, and the Robert L Walls Senior Citizens Center.   She has served as TNMBC's Ministry Volunteer Coordinator, on the Women's Ministry, Missionaries, Sunday School, and the Number 2 Ushers Ministry.

Minister Franklin accepted Christ at an early age and rededicated her life to God in 1980.  She has not looked back.   In December 2004, she was licensed to preach the Gospel and has ministered in the Washington Metropolitan area, southern VA and NC.

Her passion is to be ready to preach and teach the Word of God in season and out of season.
